Well, when one works as hard as Larson does to maintain an unbelievable physique, they deserve to treat themselves to croissants every now and then. On top of that, it does help that her diet, especially forCaptain Marvel, did not exclude carbs, especially since many tend to cross out this food group.
Talking to POPSUGAR, Larson’s trainer, Jason Walsh, stated that she ate a calorie deficit diet to lower her body fat percentage. He added that this meant“the body is more efficient at dealing with carbohydrates.”Once Larson achieved the required body fat percentage, Walsh encouraged her to eat carbs in order to gain energy.

Many have tried to attempt Larson’s intense workout sessions and have failed miserably. Well, we don’t blame them; not everyone can hip-thrust 400 pounds and push an actual Jeep for a minute. One look at her training and you can see very clearly that the actress takes her job as Captain Marvel seriously.
Talking to Self, Walsh opened up about Larson’s training plan which included building her strength and resilience as primary goals. Of course, a physique like that is not achieved in a couple of months and Walsh had nowhere to be. He took a slow and steady approach stating,“I’m very patient. My approach is very systematic.”

Larson started out with basic movements – without weights. These included hip hinging, knee flexion, pushing, pulling, and rotational/anti-rotational movements. The reason behind not using weights was that Walsh wanted theFast Xactress to perfect her moves before moving to weights.
During her final three months of the plan, Larson worked out for 12 hours a week, excluding the few hours she put into fight training. Walsh stated,“I pushed her past her limits on a constant basis.”Following the Progressive Overload Technique, Walsh and Larson constantly increased the difficulty levels of exercises by adding more and more weight.
Apart from the usual exercises, Larson also did sled pushes, rock climbing, hiking, and much more. As a result of the nine-month program, the actress was able to deadlift 225 pounds and do push-ups with a weighted chain tied to her core along with so much more.
Marvel couldn’t have found a more capable actress to play Captain Marvel!
