Taking some time off, the duo came up with the story ofMan of Steel, and Nolan placed some calls wanting to be a producer. And that is how Zack Snyder’sMan of Steelcame to be!
Christopher Nolan’s Frustration Resulted In Zack Snyder’sMan of Steel!
The 2012 movieThe Dark Knight Risesis one of the most acclaimed movies ever made by director Christopher Nolan. Not really diving into the superhero genre, the director planned a proper trilogy for Christian Bale’s Batman for the DC Universe.
With the movie requiring a plethora of sacrifices, the director and screenplay writer David S. Goyer had to get creative. Noting that there were some plot points that needed a rechecking, Nolan and Goyer were left scratching their heads. It was Nolan who finally decided to take some time off the project (a few weeks) and David S. Goyer wanted a way out of the writer’s block.

In an interview with Collider, the screenplay writer told that to overcome writer’s block, he started reading some old comics of DC. Goyer started writing down some important points for the character of Superman and before he knew it, a rough screenplay forMan of Steelhad been made!

“I was wasting time and procrastinating and took out an archive edition of some of the original Superman comic books, action comic books and started re-reading them because I couldn’t figure out this plot point on Dark Knight Rises. I just randomly sat down one afternoon and wrote up some ideas for Superman,”
The screenplay writer further continued that whenChristopher Nolansaw the piece of work, he immediately called Jeff Robinov, who was the head of Warner Bros. and they had a meeting.

“So I told him and he literally called Jeff Robinov, who’s the head of Warner Bros, while I was sitting there and said, ‘Jeff, Dave just told me this take on Superman and you need to hear it. I’d like to produce it. Can we come in?’ And we went in the next day,”

Fans might remember the infamous ending ofInception.Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Cobb spins his token at the end and if it stops then they are in the real world. Well, the screen cuts to black as soon as the top starts to dangle just a little bit and fans are left wondering whether they are dreaming or alive (or if life is just a dream?).
Well, director Christopher Nolan took the courtesy of organizing the chaos by simply stating that the end doesn’t matter. According to the director, the only thing that matters is that Cobb had moved on and was with his kids so the reality or the dream doesn’t really matter!
“I mean, the end of Inception, it’s exactly that. There is a nihilistic view of that ending, right? But also, he’s moved on and is with his kids. The ambiguity is not an emotional ambiguity. It’s an intellectual one for the audience.”
The director is currently traumatizing people with his latest magnum opusOppenheimerwhich seems to be too brutal for the people to witness. The movie is currently screening in theaters across the world and according to the critics, it’s a Christopher Nolan must-watch!
