With many Iron Man dead in his pursuit to end the terror of Thanos inAvengers: Endgame,Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is set eight months after the conclusion of the epic battle, starts on a solemn note, as Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is still mourning the death of his mentor Tony Stark.

During a field trip to Europe, Peter faces four destructive elemental monsters and has to rely on the friendship of a mysterious friend – played by Jake Gyllenhaal – to keep peace intact in the world. While Spider-Man fans wondered about the origins of the new character, Holland was puzzled if Gyllenhaal was really his friend.

Why Tom Holland Was Worried About His Friendship With Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaalentered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Quentin Beck/Mysterio, who joinsTom Holland‘s Spider-Man in the fight against Water Elemental in Venice, Italy. Parker helps his classmates to escape the danger and Beck defeats the creature.
When asked about his origins, Beck claims he arrived from an alternate reality within the multiverse, where the four Elementals killed his family and destroyed his civilization.

As Beck attempted to put his case as to why he should be trusted in the movie, on the set, Holland didn’t know if Gyllenhaal really wanted to be his friend or was just too immersed in his character that he was pretending to be his friend.
During an interview (viaIGVPresents) Zendaya, who plays Parker’s love interest MJ, inSpider-Man: Far From Home, noted:

“I remember you being worried that he was being your friend because of the movie.”
Holland added:“Because I’d heard that Jake was a method actor and in the film he’s supposed to be my friend.”

Nevertheless, the English actor was really amazed by how nice Gyllenhaal was and thought he was one of the greatest people he had ever met. Holland was even very proud of receiving a text message from hisSpider-Manco-star.

What Jake Gyllenhaal Said About Spider-Man Co-star Tom Holland
Gyllenhaal is also a big fan of Holland. When he arrived on Instagram in 2019, theSouthpawstar shared an edited picture of Mysterio, Wolverine, and Deadpool together. Interestingly, he made sure Spider-Man wasn’t left out, adding the Web-Head peeking in from the bottom corner.
While talking about the famous Instagram image during an appearance onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 42-year-old also revealed that he’s obsessed with Holland.
“He’s great, dude. He’s awesome. He’s the nicest guy in the world. I’m super into him as Spider-Man,”he revealed.
It seems Jimmy Fallon is also a big Holland fan, as the host addedThe Crowded Roomactor is“dreamy.”
