Tom Hanks Said He Paid For A Scene InForrest Gump
Hanks made an astounding revelation when he opened up about the details of what happened behind the scenes ofForrest Gump. The actor revealed that he helped the director Zemeckis backing him with financial aid when Paramount Studios tightened the movie’s budget. In one particular scene, Gump’s classic running across the country was deemed too expensive by the studio and the director turned to Hanks for that.
“And he said, ‘Well, this run is going to cost X amount of dollars.’ And it wasn’t cheap. And I said, ‘OK’. He said, ‘You and I are going to split that amount, and we’re going to give it back [to Paramount]. We’ll give you the money back, but you guys [Paramount] are going to have to share the profits a little bit more.’ Which the studio said, ‘Fabulous, great. OK.’ And it was good for us, too,”Hanks said onIn Depth With Graham Bensinger(viaThe Hollywood Reporter).
Hanks helped the director in some other scenes as well. He even confronted the studio for a scene when they refused to film it as it was too risky and the insurance wouldn’t cover it. Hanks insisted that he’d cover his insurance himself. Regardless, the movie turned out to be a masterpiece and Hanks won an Oscar for his role.
