Just when the team shined in Seoul to celebrate the premiere ofBarbie,the film gets banned in Vietnam over a scene that featured a map leading the country to take action.

While the promotion ofBarbiecontinues to make a buzz on the Internet, Vietnam has banned its commercial screening. It all happened due to a scene that featured a map showing the ‘nine-dash line’ which is generally seen in Chinese maps to show its claims in the South China Sea. It includes a large area of what Vietnam considers its continental shelf.

The state media cited Vi Kien Thanh who is the head of the Department of Cinema, a governing body responsible for licensing and censoring foreign films.
“We do not grant license for the American movie ‘Barbie’ to release in Vietnam because it contains the offending image of the nine-dash line.”
