So when it was revealed that the singer was in the Greta Gerwig-directed and Margot Robbie-ledBarbiefilm, fans were elated. But not for long.

Barbieis one of the most highly anticipated films of 2023. The movie boasts a diverse cast full of Hollywood stars and it’s making waves on social media. The movie is certainly garnering positive attention, but Lipa’s fans weren’t happy with the outfit and styling of their favorite star in the $100 million movie.

As the release date ofBarbiedraws near, Warner Bros. Discovery has released a second teaser trailer as well as a series of posters for various characters of the film. We get to see the looks of the actors playing different versions of Barbies and Kens in the movie. Ryan Gosling, Ncuti Gatwa, Simu Liu, and more are playing versions of Ken. Among the Barbies, there’s Margot Robbie, Issa Rae, Alexandra Shipp, Kate McKinnon, Nicola Coughlan, Ritu Arya, and more, who are playing different versions of the character.

But the one that grabbed everyone’s eyes wasDua Lipa. It was previously unknown that she was even in the film. But she is indeed in it and is even playing a version of Barbie. Her Barbie is a mermaid. In the poster released of Lipa, she can be seen in bright blue hair while wearing a tank top with some chunky jewelry. However, not many were impressed with her looks. Fans of the singer took to Twitter to complain about her tacky clothes and hair in the film.

Fans of Dua Lipa flooded social media with their opinions on the first-look poster of the singer in theBarbiemovie. Many think that the blue hair of the actress looks cheap, plasticky, and garish. It’s something that isn’t expected from a movie that has a budget of $100 million. Others accused the production team of giving her a tacky outfit that left a lot to be desired and also alleged she wasn’t styled with the care that the other actors were.

However, not everyone agrees with these opinions. Many think that her cheap-looking blue hair is perfect for a film set in an all-too-perfect and fake-looking world. Others speculated that Lipa’s hair and outfit reminded one of the kinds of materials used to make the actual Barbie dolls and that was the goal of the film- to make things look artificial. We will know more about the pop singer’s role in the movie when it premieres.
