What led to theThe Marvelsending

In the beginning of the film, Carol, Kamala, and Maria find themselves forced to work together when their powers are intertwined after Carol and Maria encounter jump points in space. They must team up to fight Dar-Benn, a Kree warrior who is seeking revenge against Carol after destroying their homeworld of Hala, and seeking to rebuild the planet and make it livable again.

After taking the atmosphere from the Skrulls’ home world and the water from Aladna, Dar-Benn hopes to complete the reconstruction of the Hala by stealing the sun from the Earth’s solar system. The trio attempt to bargain with her, explaining that Captain Marvel has enough power to restart the sun of Hala, but Dar-Benn refuses to listen, triumphing in a fight and getting Kamala’s bangle. She manages to open the jump point to her homeworld, but is overwhelmed by the power, causing her to disintegrate.

The Marvelsending explained

At this point, the sun begins to be siphoned from the solar system through the jump point. Carol, Monica, and Kamala attempt to find a solution to close the jump point, learning that their powers have gotten detangled. They decide that the three of them can combine their powers to close the jump point.

Carol and Kamala (now wielding both bangles) use their powers to “charge up” Monica, who flies into space to close the jump point. However, closing the jump point requires to sacrifice herself, as she is trapped on the other side with no way to return home.

After the jump point is sealed, Carol fulfills her promise to the Kree and restores the sun. Meanwhile, Kamala goes to visit another young superhero — Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), who took over the mantle from Hawkeye in the Disney+ series of the same name — saying that she is putting together a team of young superheroes that will also include Ant-Man’s daughter, Cassie Lang.

We then see Kamala and her family helping Carol move into the old Rambeau home in Louisiana. Seeing the plane, Kamala asks Carol to teach her how to fly, but Carol says she doesn’t have the key. They resolve to wait eagerly for Monica’s hopeful return.

The biggest set-up of the ending ofThe Marvelsis the scene where Kamala meets Kate Bishop. This shows that there is likely a “Young Avengers” team-up in the near future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As always, ensure to stay for the credits — at least the beginning of them — as there is a mid-credits scene. (There is not a post-credits scene.)
