The Academy Awards are conducting a review of the awards they have given over the years. Even though they have snubbed numerous awards over the years but in 2023 the institution received loads of criticism after Andrea Riseborough’s Best Actress nomination, and released a statement regarding the review. Here’s the Academy Awards’ full statement:
“It is the Academy’s goal to ensure that the Awards competition is conducted in a fair and ethical manner, and we are committed to ensuring an inclusive awards process. We are conducting a review of the campaign procedures around this year’s nominees, to ensure that no guidelines were violated, and to inform us whether changes to the guidelines may be needed in a new era of social media and digital communication. We have confidence in the integrity of our nomination and voting procedures, and support genuine grassroots campaigns for outstanding performances.”

The Academy Awards revealed that the review was done to ensure that the nominations have not violated the rules, but it sparked controversy as several celebrities launched a grassroots-level investigation against Andrea Riseborough’s nomination.

All jokes aside, many people would be intrigued to see if any of the previous winners of the award would be changed or not, because every year a number of nominations, and winners are seen in the ceremony which questions the authenticity of the ceremony; while numerous celebrities have slammed the organization handing out their awards to projects which have been well marketed.
The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on 12th March 2023.
