In a candid interview, the actress and the film director Great Gerwig shared that since Barbie is known for her arched heels, the scene they shot in the movie showcasing her feet was authentic, and they didn’t use any CGI or special effects. Gerwig shared:

“There was a big discussion in the beginning. Everyone said, ‘Are you going to CGI all the feet?’ And I thought, ‘Oh god, no! That’s terrifying! That’s a nightmare.’ Also, Margot has the nicest feet. She has these beautiful dancer feet. She should just hang on to that bar and do it just like this.”

Robbie opened up about her experience filming that scene and admitted that she performed the sequence herself, and those were her feet, saying,

Robbie nailed the part like a pro and previously shared that her feet were not CGI. The actress recently shut down rumors, saying,

“I always try and do my own inserts. I don’t like when I watch a movie, and I know it’s not my hands. I hate that so much. I always say to the director, ‘Please let me do all my own things. I don’t like knowing that I didn’t do it.’”

The actress further shared that they take multiple takes before they got the final perfect shot,

“It was probably about eight takes. I walked up, we had little sticky bits on the floor, double-sided tape for the shoes, so they wouldn’t come off, so I could get my feet out of them. And I was holding on to, like, a bar. But that’s it. I wasn’t in a harness or anything like that. I just walked up, kind of held on to the bar above [the] camera.”
