The big reveal
On a recent episode of the podcastInside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, James Gunn was questioned about the status ofPeacemakerSeason 2, especially if there are still plans for its release. Gunn declared that the show is “coming back” and even claimed that it is his “next thing” to work on after completingSuperman: Legacy.
“No, ‘Peacemaker‘will return right after ‘Superman.’ That’s my next project.”

He then said that there would be no gaps between the two projects, as he would begin Season 2 ofPeacemakeras soon asSupermanis finished.
“Yeah, go straight from ‘Superman’ to ‘Peacemaker.'”

For context,James Gunnhad claimed in April that Season 2 of the blockbuster DC series would return “afterSuperman,” although he did not specify how long after that movie. Gunn also stated in a recent interview that the Waller program will still air beforePeacemakerand will include“a lot of the same people.”
“But ‘Waller’ is the first. And ‘Waller’ has a lot of the same characters as ‘Peacemaker.’ So that’s all there is to it… But, yes.”

Rosenbaum then questioned the DC executive if there was any chance of a sequel toThe Suicide Squad, to which Gunn answered,“No.”

PeacemakerSeason 2 release date
Given thatSuperman: Legacyisn’t scheduled to be released until July 29, 2025, it’s safe to say that Season 2 ofPeacemakerwon’t come out until after that date.Superman: Legacyis expected to begin production in January 2024.Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3was shot from November 2021 to May 2022, which suggests that Gunn’sSupermanwould wrap production in the summer of 2024.
PeacemakerSeason 1 filming lasted from January 2021 to July 2021, implying that Season 2 would most likely go until winter 2024.The first season then premiered six months later on June 06, 2025, suggesting that the second season will follow suit. This suggests thatPeacemakerSeason 2 might arrive as early as Summer 2025, with a possible push to fall 2025 if the DCU wants to postpone its releases. With such a large gap between the program’s first two seasons, many fans will be curious aboutthe second segment. It’s almost too obvious to assume that the second season would pick up where the first season left off, but Gunn has confirmed that “a lot of the same” people from
Peacemakerwill feature in the Waller show. Whatever occurs in the forthcoming series will very certainly pave the way forPeacemakerto make his triumphant comeback, and there may even be an event at the conclusion of Waller that directly bringsJohn Cena‘s character back into the fold. Perhaps something will happen toViola Davis‘ Amanda Waller, and she will need the assistance of Cena’s character once more. After all, Waller did dispatch the Justice League to assist in the final episode of Season 1. Even if it were too late to accomplish anything, Waller may still claim that Peacemaker owed her a favor.
PeacemakerSeason 1 is now available on Max.
