Starfieldis a modern RPG with combat as one of the essential mechanics of the game. With that being said, Starfield has an adequate amount of killing. In the opening sequence ofStarfield, there is an entire gunfight that players can’t avoid at any cost. Players will be traversing through several settled societies and, along the journey, will come across factions who aren’t looking for a peaceful approach in the first place.

Starfieldhas taken an approach to a violent environment in such a way that they’re trying to make a statement. The choice of whether or not to indulge in violence and kill characters will not always be in control of the players. There would be situations where killing would be the only way out. An utterly peaceful playthrough won’t be possible in Starfield.

Can players finish Starfield in a pacifist way?

Unfortunately, players won’t be able to completeStarfieldwithout killing. There would be situations thrown upon the character such that they’ll be forced to kill. For better progression in the early game, violence would be an essential factor in the gameplay. However, once players have ranked further into the game, they would be able to combat as peacefully as possible. Even though entirely pure gameplay wouldn’t be possible, players approach an almost pacifist play with help of non-lethal weapons and making use of Starfield’s Social skill tree.

What are Non-Lethal Weapons?

Non-lethal weapons are very rare inStarfield. However, they can be crafted by the players. The lethality of a weapon inStarfielddepends upon what kind of projectile it shoots. This narrows down the number of non-lethal weapons in the game. Only a few weapons are naturally non-lethal, using Electromagnetic rounds to stun enemies.

How to craft a Non-Lethal Weapon?

There will be various non-lethal weapons inStarfieldbut mostly, the weapons with energy-based projectiles can be categorised as non-lethal. This includes laser and particle beams. Guns like the Novalight, the Solstice, and the Equinox are perfect. These weapons unlock at a rather high level in the game. Players would be recommended to invest their time and skill points properly. Weapon Engineering Skill Level 3 is necessary for researching weapons of this category. Researching more mods will lead to unlocking a non-lethal option. The most amount of options can be found in the Magazine and Battery section so it will be crucial for research.

For example, players can use Solstice as a non-lethal weapon. For this, they’ll need to head to the ‘Weapons and Battery’ section in the workbench and choose the Electromagnetic Beams option. Similarly, Breach is a rare ballistic weapon that can be turned non-lethal, where it attacks with EM-Shells.
