Star Ocean The Divine Force is the next chapter in SquareEnix’s JRPG series, here’s everything we know.

Star Ocean Divine Force will be the sixth main entry in the now long-running JRPG series. LikeFinal Fantasyand Dragon Quest, Star Ocean is another one of Square-Enix’s huge RPG franchises andthe gamewill have a lot in common with those titles.

However, Star Ocean’s design is a lot like classic anime, rather than the photorealism style employed by games like Final Fantasy XV. While the games share a lot of gameplay mechanics with the Final Fantasy series, in terms of combat, storytelling, and exploration, Star Ocean games are much more fantastical in their approach.

Star Ocean The Divine Force will release onXbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, andPC.

There’s been no word on a Nintendo Switch version.

Gameplay details?

The trailer shows some rather lush environments as the characters traverse what will likely be a vast open world. As with previous Star Ocean games, Divine Force will feature a range of wildernesses where monsters can be fought and various towns and settlements where you can shop and chat with friendly NPCs.

The game’s battle system looks a lot like previous Star Ocean games, this means it will be an active battle system like FFXIV and FFXV rather than using turn-based combat. It also looks like the combat system has been overhauled to make Divine Force play a lot like FFXV.
