Despite being notoriously chipper in the past, director David F. Sandberg has stayed unexpectedly silent on the upcomingShazam 2. In the DC Fandome event, though he didn’t reveal any major plot detail, David F. Sandberg confirmed that the movie will feature unexpected villains that will leave the fans surprised

“I can’t really talk about villains…but I think a lot of people will be surprised,”said Sandberg.“It’s gonna be a little unexpected”.

According to an exclusive fromThe Illuminerdi,Shazam! Fury of the Godswill feature three villainous sisters as the movie’s antagonist(s). Only referred to as ‘Sisters’, the three sinister siblings have been confirmed to differ in age.

Who Are These Three Villainous Sisters?

As per the reports fromThe Illuminerdi, the casting-sheet has revealed the possible ages of these three sisters. The youngest of them is reported to be seventeen, withSpider-Manstar Zendaya attached as the template for the role. The middle sister is a full-grown adult with Eva Green and Halle Berry considered for the role. The eldest of the three is described to be in her fifties or sixties, with Helen Mirren being eyed for the role inShazam 2.

Staying true to his words, David F. Sandberg has managed to leave comic-books fans flummoxed with reports of these three mysterious and sinister sisters joining the movie. In the comics, there are no defined characters who suit the casting-sheet that has been revealed.

However, fans of Neil Gaiman’sTheSandmanmight remember the Kindly Ones; Cynthia, Mildred, and Mordred. The three powerful witches have a mysterious past and match the age description of the casting-sheet. The youngest one is Cynthia, in her late teens, while Mildred and Mordred are middle-aged and elderly respectively. Though Vertigo is an imprint of DC Comics, it is highly unlikely thatShazam 2will feature characters from DC’s darker and mature line of comics.

The most plausible theory which can explain these three mysterious sisters is that the siblings are actually a reinvention of the Three Faces of Evil. Embodied in a fierce three-headed dragon, Terror, Sin, and Wickedness is an ancient and powerful demonic evil faced by Shazam in the comics. Dangerously malevolent, this three-headed dragon is filled with malice and stops at nothing to corrupt all of creation.

AsBlack Adamwill reportedly feature the demonic villain Sabbac, the Three Faces of Evil making a grand appearance inShazam 2is surely an exciting idea. Though it is still unsure if these three villainous sisters will be the major antagonist(s), more news will surely come in months to come.
