While big-budget films may be all the rage today, people will agree that the intimate connection that small-screen entertainment, especially sitcoms can create with the audience is unrivaled. And even to this day, Steve Carell’sThe Officehas been that show of choice for many who love a good comedy series, but with a unique twist.

Despite the show being a light-hearted comedy series, it was able to incorporate some touching moments during its run, which was the reason for the series’ success in the long run. But there was this one time when emotions were running rampant on the sets with people being brought to tears, and it was due to Carell’s decision.
Steve Carell And The Cast OfThe OfficeWere Emotional During His Last Episode
Many stars have left an impact on the world with their performances in the entertainment industry, but whatSteve Carellmanaged to achieve with his performance as Michael Scott in the iconic comedy seriesThe Officewas something that only a few can in their lifetime. The success that the series witnessed during its original run time and that which it witnesses today through online streams is a fine example of its popularity. And while the show may have many memorable moments, the one where Scott leaves Dunder Mifflin will forever be remembered.
In a past conversation withYahoo! Entertainment, Oscar Nunez, who played the role of Oscar Martinez in the series recalled the day when they were shooting the episodeGoodbye Michael, which was the episode where Carell left the series. He talked about how everyone on the set, including theBruce Almightystar was emotional, to the point they were crying everywhere in between shots and even while filming them, and that it was truly an emotional moment in a series known for its comedy. He said:

“It was like, ‘Wow, the show’s over, and now we’re going to do another show without Steve,’ Someone’s going to come in and be the boss. The Office was over: Steve left, and now it’s another show. It was fun, meeting those people was great, but when Steve left, it was very sad. People were crying all over the place. It was very emotional.”
Not only did the cast experience an emotional roller coaster ride during the filming of the show but the audience was moved to tears after the episode was aired.

Why IsThe OfficeSo Popular?
While it may seem like just another sitcom,The Officeis so much more than the description it has been given by the industry. One of the main reasons why this is such a popular show is because it deviates from the conventional take on a slapstick and satirical sitcom and focuses on its unique take on the off-the-wall cringe comedy.
On top of that, it still keeps some of the traditional aspects of a sitcom by creating a deep and lasting connection with its varied and memorable cast, which is an ensemble of quirky and unique characters that people fall in love with.
