The art of creating a film from the mere thought of an individual’s mind is something that not many people can achieve, especially when that idea is larger than life. But even with high stakes, there are a few directors who can bring that idea to life. Christopher Nolan, revered as one of the greatest creators of all time, has this natural talent to extrapolate an idea and turn it into reality.

With numerous films that he has created over the years, there is something truly mesmerizing about the style in which all of his films capture the imagination of the public. Thus, to reach this level of clarity of mind to create absolute masterpieces, the director had to always be confident about his work and how it was being executed, even if it meant he had to disregard any outside input from anyone.

A visionary mind is something of a rare occurrence in the film industry, and even rare is to see that vision come to fruition. ButChristopher Nolanis one of those visionaries that can turn his ideas into reality, all thanks to his clear goals and work ethic. Thus, even when faced with so many variations to try and people to talk to, he keeps his focus on the target he has set, which also led to him not listening to his co-workerChristian Baleand his ideas for the character of Batman.

While there may have been many iterations of the caped crusader in the past, every member of the audience believed that there was something exceptional about Nolan’s version of Batman, and Bale reveals it’s all thanks to the director’s confidence in his creation. In a past interview, theFord V Ferraristar revealed that he had no idea how the last film of the series was going to perform, but seeing that Nolan had so much confidence in his work, he followed his idea to the end, even when he wasn’t heard for his ideas. He said:

Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan

“He is a fascinating character and then Chris just has to tell me the points when it gets tedious and boring and doesn’t want to see what I’m doing. It’s great having someone at the helm who’s … remarkably confident at going with his gut and not desiring any safety net or anything to fall back on. There are a number of times when I say to him: ‘Are you sure you don’t want me to do a few other variants? I can do this one, and what if later down track you choose to change this part of the story, in that case we need to change the domino effect. If you want I can give you three or four different ways you can play it.’ He’s like: ‘No, no I know what I want.’ That’s exactly the thing that I need, he’s very firm with it.”

Nolan’s confidence paid off in the end, and the last film was such an exceptional masterpiece that the entire franchise is considered to be one of, if not the best iteration of Batman in the history of cinema.

Why IsThe Dark KnightTrilogy Considered A Masterpiece?

With so many previous iterations of the vigilante of Gotham City, the appeal ofThe Dark Knighttrilogy remains a unique offering to the superhero genre as instead of making it about a superhero, the films showed the story of Bruce Wayne as he struggles to maintain peace in a city ridden with corruption. As the series goes on, every experience and change in the environment develops Bruce’s character to overcome his challenges and save people from despair.

Along with this, the story was grounded in reality instead of making it into a visual spectacle. Here, everyone was dealing with monsters that they had to face, and Batman was the one who conquered them, becoming the shadow for those who stood in the light.
