James Gunn’sGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3is set to depart and yet we are not ready to let go. The 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has only given its audience a taste of what’s to come and even the short trailer takes us on a ride that ranges from euphoric glee to vengeful nostalgia and from laughter to tremendous sadness. Ever since the beginning, the trilogy was headed toward a resolution of the Rocket’s horrific and tragic past. And for a director to be as level-headed as to know where his story finds its closure ten years before its execution is truly worthy of leading one of the greatest franchises (Guardians of the Galaxy) within the greatest franchise in film (the Marvel Cinematic Universe). And in the moments adding up to the grand final stand,James Gunnhas nothing but praise for his experience with Marvel and the family he found there.
“I’ve learned so much. My movie before Guardians cost $3 million to make. I’ve learned a lot about the process of storytelling. I’ve learned a lot about working within a connected universe. And I’ve learned a lot about working hard on films that maybe work well, or maybe don’t work so well, and trying to make them better in post-production.”

In his masterful storytelling, James Gunn finds a vehement need to bring his audience to the edge of a nervous breakdown with the sheer amount of humor, joy, innocence, grandeur, hope, and catharsis that is contained within his plots and character arcs. The audience expects the same fromGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3which is also Gunn’s and the Guardians cast’s final stand within the cinematic universe and their last bow at Marvel.

The Guardians Bring Out the Sadness in All of Us
The story may not be known to all but the saga of James Gunn’s firing and the vehement shock that rippled through the nerves of the entire production, cast, and Marvel execs, including the studio PresidentKevin Feigeis a foreboding gruesome tale. The days when described in detail from various accounts sound like the immediate aftermath of a doomsday scenario at the Marvel household. What followed soon after was an in-house movement, a rebellion, and a display of friendship, sacrifice, loyalty in times of hardship, and complete, unadulterated love.

Like the story of the Guardians themselves who were brought together under one roof by the keen eye of James Gunn, the efforts of the cast to reinstate the director are worthy of being translated into a movie. And as such, a found family – so bound together by love and loyalty to each other – in their final journey give it their all to bring their saga to a close. One final hurrah, one last time with feeling, and as Rocket deems it to be – one last time, into the forever and beautiful sky.
