Mel Gibson talked about his favorite Marvel movies
In May 2016, actorMel Gibsonappeared for an interview withThe Guardianat the Cannes Film Festival. During the interview, Gibson was asked to share his views on superhero movies, and the actor replied,

The actor subtly dissed the Spider-Man movies
Further in the interview, Gibson added that some superhero movies are like “retreats,” highlighting thatSpider-Manmovies are like that,
“Some of them are just like retreats. I mean you can watch them do Spider-Man five times… There is a slight shift in film. But, then again, I think all films are suffering from people not being able to now open them with their name. It’s a different kind of business these days.”

Gibson might have changed his mind now as just a few months after this interview, the world was introduced to MCU’s new Spider-Man, Tom Holland.

Mel Gibson also criticizedBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
In another interview withDeadline, Gibson attacked big-budget superhero movies, movies with a production of $200 million or more,
“I look at them and scratch my head. I’m really baffled by it. I think there’s a lot of waste, but maybe if I did one of those things with the green screens I’d find out different. I don’t know. Maybe they do cost that much. I don’t know. It seems to me that you could do it for less.”
When Gibson asked about the production cost of 2016’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he was told that it was $250 million, he then added,
“It’s a piece of sh*t,”Gibson explained,“I’m not interested in the stuff. Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic book superheroes is? Real superheroes didn’t wear spandex. So I don’t know. Spandex must cost a lot.”
Gibson also once revealed that he was approached for the role of Thor’s father in the MCU, but he turned it down.
