It is no secret that after Phase 3, theMarvel Cinematic Universewill be placing their stories more in outer space and with character that aren’t Earth bound. According to writer/director James Gunn,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3will be the “beginning of a whole other element of the Marvel Cosmic universe.”
But what will be that particular element? Well there have been sites that are reporting that abig scoopwill be dropping on Monday regarding whatMarvelwill be doing for their upcoming Phase 4, and it apparently has to do a lot with their Cosmic Universe. No details have been disclosed but it will not have anything to do with theFoxproperties from the recentDisney/Fox deal. So that is ruled out
It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly the studio could be looking to announce, but former IGN editor Jeremy Conrad has been hyping it up both onTwitterandhis website, whileSegment NextandCosmic Book Newshave also reported on it. Many are reporting that it will be for an all new franchise and apparently this new franchise could be for the Eternals.

The details right now are very sceptical and understandably so. It is nothing more than a rumor at the moment but it has been said that casting could be underway. A 2021/2022 release could happen and they could be introduced inGuardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3before going off into their own sub franchise within the MCU.
For those who do not know, The Eternals were created by Jack Kirby in a same mythology mold as his New Gods atDC. They are superhero products of genetic experimentation on primitive humans. As comic fans know, Thanos is one of the Eternals of Titan but was born a deformed mutant known as a Deviant, meaning he was cast off by his race as they value perfection. This made him develop a lot of issues in the comics and wage a war on his people of Titan.
This could also be a big reason why we will be seeing Thanos’ home of Titan inAvengers: Infinity War,as it will set up a possible Eternals movie in the future and plant seeds for the more cosmic side of the MCU.
