A few missions after The Lizard encounter inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, we jump to Miles trying to escape Kraven’s facility. At the end of his path, Miles is met with Martin Li also known as Mr. Negative. Kraven set the whole facility up as a “test” for Miles.
Now, he must fight to the death against Mr. Negative, who has already killed other villains in Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery. If you’re having trouble defeating Mr. Negative, here is a comprehensive guide on how to beat Mr. Negative inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.
When Do You Face Mr. Negative In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
After the night the symbiote took control of Peter to fight the Hunters, Miles was called in by MJ for backup. After saving a construction worker, Miles is put to bed with a syringe struck by the same construction worker, disguised as one of Kraven’s Hunters.
We see in the following story scenes that Peter’s behavior is changing due to the symbiote. His relationships with MJ and Harry start to decline. More aggressive than before and Rio Morales re-iterates to Peter that Miles only wants to be a better Spider-Man, how to help him.
We now transition to Miles’ current location at Kraven’s facility. In this story mission called “No Escape,” it starts with Miles locked in a cage. After messing with some levers to bring every cage down, Miles is able to escape. Sneak past and fight through Kraven’s Hunters to reach the end of the facility. Use your Venom Powers and gadgets to make these hunters easy pickings.
Finally, as you slowly approach the door with guards chanting all around, you are met with Mr. Negative inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. This climatic boss fight is full of emotion as Miles faces the man who killed his father. A fight to the death as Mr. Negative has only done what he thought was necessary to survive. It’s now up to Miles to defeat Mr. Negative and show him there’s always another way.
How To Beat Mr. Negative In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Mr. Negative is a tough opponent but manageable for sure. It starts with Mr. Negative throwing horizontal and vertical attacks, similar to his fight inMarvel’s Spider-Man (2018). Jump over the horizontal slash attacks and dodge the vertical slash attacks.
After the tough boss fight versus The Lizard, you should be familiar with parrying red attacks and dodging crush attacks (blue warning attacks). Mr. Negative will throw crush attacks where he raises his sword to his left side, dashing towards Miles. Dodge these attacks because crush attacks cannot be blocked or parried.
The first phase, Mr. Negative will only throw one crush attack. After he lunges, attack him with everything you got. In a different attack, Mr. Negative will lunge his sword at you, causing a red warning to appear. Parry these attacks to deal more damage.
Webbing him up will temporarily cocoon him, allowing you to land some hits. All of Miles’ Venom Powers will affect Mr. Negative’s movement, so use them as much as possible. Also, you may use gadgets to stop his movement as well. Mr. Negative acts as a tougher normal enemy due to his human size and his abilities, allowing you to use any and all of Miles’ tools effectively.
If you happen to build up focus bars, use one bar to heal or use two to perform a finisher. Depending on how many hits you take from Mr. Negative, healing may be useful. Otherwise, the finisher will deal a significant amount of damage.
Moving onto the second phase, Mr. Negative will spawn a shield to protect him and temporarily disable Miles’ Venom Power. Swing around or dodge his incoming attacks. When Miles gets his powers back, use the Chain Lightning to break the shield. How to beat Mr. Negative? You’re now getting one step closer.
Mr. Negative will throw multiple red or blue attacks at once, so be prepared to dodge/parry accordingly. They’re usually in sets of three’s but after he’s done, you’re able to start beating him up. Mr. Negative also has a new projectile he’ll throw at you. Dodge these as parrying them is not possible. Remember to jump over horizontal slash attacks and dodge the vertical slash attacks.
Mr. Negative will use a new red warning attack where he slams his sword into the ground. Familiarize yourself with the parry timing of this attack because it will be useful during the third and final phase.
When the last phase starts, Mr. Negative will bring his shield back up to throw attacks at you. Dodge and swing around until your Chain Lightning comes back on cooldown. After breaking the shield, whale on him just like before.
Very similar to phase two, Mr. Negative is on the ropes on his last health bar. Use Miles’ Venom Powers and gadgets to bring him down. How to beat Mr. Negative inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2boils down to dodging his various attacks, parrying the sword lunges/slams, and utilizing Miles’ abilities whenever possible.
While Mr. Negative is down for the count, he isn’t done just yet. After bringing Miles into his world where Mr. Negative can read deeper in Miles’ subconscious, we have to swing across collapsed buildings to catch up to Mr. Negative. When the triangle button prompt appears, Miles Venom Dashes toward Mr. Negative.
Now, we see Miles’ supporting characters slam him for being a bad Spider-Man. From Peter to Ganke to his own father, they all describe Miles as a failure and disappointment.
After each character throws their words of negativity at Miles, you have to fight through Mr. Negative’s horde of enemies to reach the next person. Battle them out like normal enemies during a Sandman Memories quest or a random crime. Use the Venom Powers and gadgets whenever possible for quicker take downs.
Repeat this process three more times to reach the end of the Mr. Negative boss fight. You receive a new Venom Power, Reverse Flux, after Mr. Negative’s horde makes one last attempt to defeat Miles. Use this new power to pull enemies towards you for a faster beat down.
When you are back in real world, you let Mr. Negative escape through the roof. Miles is still in Kraven’s facility, awaiting Peter’s rescue. Story Mission “No Escape” is now complete and earned a bronze trophy called “Another Way” forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. There you have it, ‘how to bear Mr. Negative’ is now ‘I beat Mr. Negative’.
Using Accessibility Options For Mr. Negative In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Parrying is highly recommended to defeat Mr. Negative. You can go through this boss fight without it since the Venom Powers and gadgets do a ton of damage. However, if you would like to parry Mr. Negative’s attacks easier, use the game speed accessibility option. It allows the player to slow down time to get in crucial inputs such as parrying.
Other accessibility options such as QTE autocomplete and enhanced auto-aim are not that useful here since most of the combat is hand-to-hand. Lowering the difficulty will make Mr. Negative an easier opponent if his output damage is too high.
