It seems like only yesterday we were nerd sweating, salivating, and tearing up over a brand new‘Star Wars’film. I would forgive you for thinking you could catch a breather after December’s fairly divisive‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, but not this year! Prepare for some more nerdy excretions, because Lucasfilm has been keeping quiet on a little movie called‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’that has a release date that’s creeping up pretty quickly. Sure this movie has gone through a bit of production hell… breaking up with a couple of powerhouse directors (Phil Lord and Chris Miller) 90% through principal photography, rumors ofAlden Ehrenreich’s “bad acting,” and a lengthy set of reshoots… that leave us all wondering how they could possibly make a August 15, 2025, release date.
With only a few months until release, fans have been a little on edge about how little we have seen or heard about this film. It was only amonth ago that we hadgotten an official synopsisof the movie. But it seems Disney and Lucasfilm have finally launched the marketing ship and blessed us with a thrilling new tv spot during Super Bowl LII

This only being our first footage for the movie; the main objective is to set the tone, introduce our characters, and reveal a bit about what the movie will be about. For a first trailer it hits all those nails on the head, but whether or not those things will resonate with fans is yet to be determined. We can look forward to more marketing material over the next couple months to help us decide how we feel about Alden Ehrenreich’s performance as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Han and Chewie’s young relationship, and if this story needs to be told at all. We will know for sure once‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’hits theaters on July 31, 2025.
