About the show as a mini-series:

The character that made fans start to actually support villainy by just pure charisma and attitude, Loki. One of the MCU’s most beloved characters has always been Loki, as played by Tom Hiddleston. Just for reference,Lokiwas the first announced mini-series by Marvel even thoughWandaVisionandThe Falcon And The Winter Soldierwere scheduled to be released earlier. The Asgardian God of Mischief will be getting his own spotlight story at long last. The series will premiere on Disney+ in June 2021.

The last time we saw the mischievous character was inAvengers: Endgameas he escapes with the Tesseract during the events ofAvengers. Per the series logline, the titular God of Mischief, “after absconding with the Tesseract, is a fish-out-of-water when he lands in a world of trouble with the bureaucratic TVA (Time Variance Authority).” The official trailer reveals just how much trouble Loki is in.

Kevin Feige had gone on record to confirm that the mini-series would be a crime drama. This would be the first time that the MCU would be diving into the genre. The trailer is the extended version of what was shown on Disney’s Investor Day presentation in December 2020. The key detail to know about the show is that this will not be the Loki we have all come to know and love.

What variant of the god of mischief will we be watching?

Back at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Tom Hiddleston appeared briefly to discuss theLokiseries. He confirmed that he will star as the version of Loki that escapes with the Tesseract inAvengers: Endgame. Therefore, he will not be retaining any of the character development that he had got after the first Avengers film. The Loki we will witness would be the version that is still very much evil.

At Comic-Con, Hiddleston said,“You guys saw Avengers, right? He’s still that guy. And just about the last thing that happened to him was that he got Hulk-smashed, so there’s a lot of psychological evolution that hasn’t happened yet, but Kevin Feige has generously showed me what his plans are—I can’t tell you any of them—but it is one of the most exciting creative opportunities I think I’ve ever come across.”

The mini-series is said to have direct ties withWandaVisionandDoctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

The cast and directors ofLoki:

Coming to the cast of the Disney+ show, joining Tom Hiddleston in the upcoming series areOwen Wilson,Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. Wilson is playing Mobius M. Mobius, the TVA employee tasked with keeping Loki in check.

The showrunner ofLoki is Micheal Waldron, who is one of the producers behindRick & Morty. As for the director of the show, we have Katie Herron, who has also directed the seriesSex Education. Since last year, the MCU has been growing its reach through its mini-series releasing on Disney+. However, one major question remains: are the shows ongoing or limited series? While Kevin Feige has remained mum regardingWandaVisionandThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, rumors are already circulating about a Loki season two.
