Chapter 1098 of theOne Piecemanga gave the viewers an insight into the fate of Ginny, the actual origins of Bonney, and how Kuma became her guardian. The chapter also delved into the secrets of Bonney’s actual age. It was an eye-opener to the community’s long-running theories around Bonney’s age.

The chapter furthermore goes into the story of how Ginny met her demise due to the Sapphire Scale disease. This was a relatively new disease not mentioned in the story before. However, Bonney’s entire backstory still needs to be revealed. From what’s been told so far, it managed somewhat to mirror the tragic disease-ridden past of Trafalgar D. Law.

Jewelry Bonney’s past is revealed in Chapter 1098 of One Piece
Chapter 1098 ofOne Piecemanga traces the enigmatic past of Jewelry Bonney, whose secrets have finally emerged from the shadows of mystery. The story traces through the events that Bonney was the offspring of a forced union between a Celestial Dragon and Ginny.
The devastating events of Ginny’s past add a layer of melancholy to Bonney’s narrative. Ginny fell weak with a rare and devastating Sapphire Scale disease. This disease was considered to be more obscure than the Amber Lead Syndrome that once afflicted Law during his childhood.

With Ginny’s demise came a new wave of events that followed Bartholomew Kuma’s adoption of Bonney. As we’ve seen in the series, this was similar to Law’s traumatic past. Corazon adopted him, later giving him the Ope Ope devil fruit to cure his Amber Lead disease.

How are Jewelry Bonney and Trafalgar D Law’s backstories similar to each other?
Bonney and Law’s stories merge as it is revealed that she becomes a victim of the Sapphire Scale disease. It was also revealed that she would only live until age ten. This is quite similar to Law’s condition when he was suffering from an incurable illness, the Amber Lead Syndrome, during his younger years.
However, there is a difference in Law’s story as he forcibly consumes the Ope Ope no mi, which grants him powers to perform miracle surgeries. He used the powers of his Devil Fruit and became the only person in history to survive the once-deemed incurable Amber Lead disease.

Much hasn’t been revealed about how Bonney got cured of the Sapphire Scale disease. The storyline heavily implied that her Devil Fruit might have something to do with it. It is speculated that her Devil Fruit grants eternal youth.
