Harry Potteris a beloved franchise. Both the books and the movies are immensely loved by fans all over the world. Many of us grew up watching these movies, waiting for the owls to someday come to our windows to drop our admission letter to Hogwarts. Though not us, there were a few who got to live the dream, though it was just through special effects; the cast of theHarry Pottermovies.
The movies had a huge cast, the Golden Trio, their friends and family, students from other houses, the professors, the Death Eaters, and the Members of the Order of Phoenix. The were a few we knew well while the others we did not even really get to know the names of. One pivotal character in the franchise was Ginny Weasley, the youngest Weasley sibling and the future wife of Harry Potter, but she did not receive enough spotlight, and the actress, Bonnie Wright isn’t too happy about it.

Bonnie Wright, the actress who played Ginny Weasley revealed in an episode of theInside of Youpodcast, how she feels that her character did not have enough spotlight. The character of Ginny is one of the main supporting roles in the books as well as the movies. However, in the movies, we do get to see Ginny evolve somewhere as a character, from a little girl who ended up being controlled by Voldemort into opening the Chambers of Secrets to a strong witch, who stands her ground and is the smartest Weasley. But it is nothing compared to how familiar we are with the stories ofDaniel Radcliffe‘s Harry Potter andEmma Warson‘s Hermoine Granger.

The actress spoke on the same,
“I definitely feel there was anxiety towards performing and doing the best thing as my character built. Like, ‘Oh gosh, will I do justice to this character that people love?’ So that was always hard to do, especially when, inevitably, a lot of the scenes of every character were chopped down from the book to the film. Sometimes that was a little disappointing because there were parts of the character that just didn’t get to come through because there weren’t the scenes to do that. That made me feel a bit anxious or just frustrated, I guess.”
Wright felt that due to the reduced screen time, her character did not have enough space to show any real development. She stated,
“I think what I maybe took, which I don’t take so much to heart now, is I kind of felt that maybe my anxiety was about, ‘Oh, I’m going to be seen as badly portraying this character,’ rather than later realizing that I wasn’t really given the opportunity to do that.”
In hindsight, the fans also realize Wright’s point of view, as her character really did not get the chance to be explored in the movies as much as it deserved. Though Ginny was a part of all the movies, we did not really see her as often.

Bonnie Wright believes aHarry PotterSequel would be fun
Despite Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson denying to get on board aHarry Pottersequel,Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, there are a few members of the cast who are ready to be a part of it. Bonnie Wright is also one of them. In the same episode, when the Ginny Weasley actress was enquired about the movie, she shared,
The biggest question everyone wants to know is if they are going to be making a TV/film version of it. I don’t know. It would be pretty fun because it’s really about the children. It’s not about our characters, so it wouldn’t be a massive role. It would really be about these kids and the new generation. It would be fun, but I have no idea if they’ll do it.”

Though the actress shared that she would love to be a part of the movie, she isn’t sure if it will ever be made. But for now, there is aHarry Potterseries in development, and will be released on HBO Max. Though there aren’t any updates, it has been ensured that these series will be truer to the source material, and maybe the new Ginny will get the screen time she deserves.
