Pete Davidson Has Collected 5000 VHS Tapes

Pete Davidsonrecently made an appearance onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel. Here he spoke on many subjects, including a new collection that he has started. The comedian revealed that he has started to collect unopened, vintage VHS tapes in the last couple of years. One would assume the reason for this would be something along the lines of him being interested in this and developing a passion for collecting them. That, however, is not the case.

“I started collecting VHSs that were sealed, in the box, like three years ago ’cause I was really high one night and I thought. Okay so listen to this guys, So in 2026, it’ll be 20 years since the last VHS was made, right? So 20 years goes by and that’s enough time for people to be like, ‘Oh that was cool. Remember?’ Like vinyl. So I bought all the sealed ones that exist, like 3,000 to 5,000 tapes. (audience starts to laugh in disbelief) You guys sound like my mom. No one believes in me.”

Davidson revealed that he does this in order to profit off of them. He elaborated on this, using the example of vinyl disc. He mentioned the fact that though these went out of use after the creation of modern technology, they started to become a niche interest for those who are interested in the world surrounding record players.

He expects the same thing to happen to VHS tapes, adding that by 2026, it would be 20 years since the last one was made, making the product in high demand and low quantity. This is the reason why the comedian ended up collecting around 5,000 unopened VHS tapes.
