Fat to Fit: How Chris Pratt Made Some Changes

Pratt told Best Fit he was given“five-and-a-half months”because they thought he was“too fat for Star-Lord.”

“They held up the selfie from Zero Dark Thirty and said, ‘You’re too fat for Star-Lord. How long will it take you to look like this?’ They gave me five-and-a-half months. I did what I had to do!”

Pratt’s metamorphosis was not simple. Fortunately, Marvel connected him with fitness expert Duffy Gaver and nutritionist Phil Goglia. Goglia changed the actor’s diet by giving him an extra gallon of water for every pound he weighed and increasing his calorie intake to 4,000 daily. The actor told Men’s Health that he“was peeing all day”and that it“was a nightmare.”

“I was peeing all day long, every day. That part was a nightmare.”

Chris Pratt also had to engage in strenuous exercise to achieve the muscle bulk required for the role. He worked out in various ways, from lifting weights to running, swimming, and martial arts fighting.
