During an episode ofRunning Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge,Bradley Cooperjoined Bear Grylls, where he talked about his challenges in overcoming his drug addictions, and how he had some“wild years.”However, he insisted that it was not because of his fame, and he realized how lucky he was.

“I didn’t get lost in fame, but I definitely had some wild years,” said Cooper. In terms of alcohol and drugs, yeah. But that had nothing to do with fame, though. But I was lucky, y’know? I got sober at 29 years old. And I’ve been sober for 19 years.”

TheLimitlessactor talked about another emotional blow when his father died from lung cancer in 2011. Cooper was close to his father and his demise had a massive impact on his life, forming a“nihilistic attitude,”constantly feeling that he would meet his father soon in the afterlife.

“At that time, without a doubt, I retreated into a nihilistic attitude, as if I thought I might be about to die too. I spent some time not being at my best, until I realized that I had to accept who I really was and make peace with myself, and somehow it worked.”

These negative life experiences helped Bradley Cooper to flawlessly play the role of Jackson Maine, an alcoholic musician in the 2018 film,A Star Is Born.However, an audacious lie helped the actor to bag his role inSex and The City.

Bradley Cooper Lied To Bag His Role inSex and The City

TheGuardians of the Galaxyactor played the role of Jake, a fleeting love interest for Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. Cooper’s career rose to prominence for his role in the series. But he bagged the role with the help of a lie, his role came with a requirement. Bradley Cooper had to drive a vintage sports car, something he was not familiar with.

Despite not knowing how to drive a sports car, he manages to pull that scene successfully. His co-star Cynthia Nixon shared what happened during the shooting of the scene onWatch What Happens Live.

“He told them he knew how to drive a stick because it was his first job and he was desperate to get it. And then the time came for him to pull out, and he was like, ‘I don’t know how to drive a stick.’”

Though Cooper lied to bag the role, he managed to drive the car though he was helped by Sarah Jessica Parker in the passenger seat. Hence, that series helped him to get numerous opportunities in Hollywood, and looking back he would be grateful for how things turned out.
