When it comes to being part of something truly phenomenal in the world, the actors and actresses from the MCU have the right to flaunt their positions to the world, Among them, there are talented stars like Elizabeth Olsen and many others that have helped shaped the cinematic universe into the pristine image of success it is today.
While they may bask in the glory of the franchise, the road that has been trodden by them has not been an easy one, especially considering the fact they have spent a major part of their careers being associated with the cinematic juggernaut. Among some of these stories, there is one about Olsen’s co-star, who was horrified by the idea of stripping naked in this Avengers film when asked by the director.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Co-Star Paul Bettany Was Scared Of Being Naked InAvengers: Age Of Ultron
Most popular for playing the role of the iconic Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a, The Scarlett Witch in the MCU,Elizabeth Olsenhas created quite a reputation as one of the most talented stars in the business today, which she did by going above and beyond in front of the camera. And while she may have acquired the confidence to excel while performing, there are some demands that everyone is ok with, like her co-starPaul Bettany, who was asked to expose himself when he was introduced as Vision by director Joss Whedon inAvengers: Age Of Ultron.
In a past interview, theLegionstar talked about his experience while shooting the film with theJustice Leaguedirector, while also remembering an incident when Whedon wanted the newly-synthesized Vision to have his male genitals on display. Bettany was visibly uncomfortable with this idea, and even Marvel Studios PresidentKevin Feige, who was there during the shoot, advised the filmmaker that this wasn’t a wise decision to implement. Bettany said:
“Joss Whedon was manning the ship at that point. Right in the beginning, he was wondering, Vision’s going to be born, we’re going to see him born, ostensibly naked, he has to have a pnis. Because he’s naked and he’s being born. And everybody there, Louis D’Esposito, Kevin Feige, everybody was like, ‘Uh, I’m not sure that’s such a great idea for Vision, for him to rise up out of the crypt as it were with a pnis.’ And he said, ‘I need him, I need to see his penis.'”
Seeing that this film was a PG-13 release, it was a wise idea to not show Bettany in his full birthday suit glory to the audience.
Will We See Vision In The MCU Again?
After we saw the Mind Stone being pulled from his head by Thanos inAvengers: Infinity War, everyone assumed that the time for Paul Bettany’s role as the synthezoid had come to an end. Yet after the events ofAvengers: Endgame,we saw him again as a happy family man in the episodes ofWandaVision.Now, as the gates of the Multiverse have opened in Phase 5 of the MCU, there might still be a chance that we get a glimpse of him in the future.
