The director said,

“The fact that there is so much debate, I love it. I have been thinking about who should play these characters before I had the job to direct the movie…Chemistry is super important…It’s Marvel’s first family. I have to get it right.”

Upon seeing Shakman’s aboutFantastic Fourcasting, fans remain divided about Robert Downey Jr. or Henry Cavill being the perfect actors to play Doctor Doom in theFantastic Fourmovie.
Well, as of now, there is no confirmation about which actor will play the iconic villain role. In fact, Cillian Murphy is also in the mix for donning the Doctor Doom cape in the upcoming project.
Downey Jr. was rumored to play Doctor Doom in the 2005 filmFantastic Four, but Julian McMahon was ultimately cast for the role.
On the other hand, Cavill’s amazing portrayal of Superman simply makes him a fan favorite to play the iconic Marvel role.

In the comics, fans have always had a love-hate relationship with Doctor Doom’s character. After all, he has had many great battles with the Fantastic Four (and the Avengers). He remains one of the most formidable villains Marvel has to offer.
However, the rumor mill suggests that Doctor Doom may not appear as a full-fledged villain in the upcoming movie. The reason is that the Silver Surfer and Galactus are expected to be the primary villains of the movie.
For now, the anti-hero is only expected to play a small role in the movie. Marvel is probably saving a major role for Doctor Doom inAvengers: Secret Wars.
It will be a befitting end to Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, sinceEndgame,MCU has made several attempts to bring back its immense popularity among the audience.
