Elizabeth Olsen has recently hinted at moving on from her role as Scarlet Witch in the MCU. Olsen made her first appearance as Wanda Maximoff in an end credits scene inCaptain America: The Winter Soldierin 2014. Since then, MCU has explored her morally complex character arc throughout five movies and a miniseries. Currently, there are rumors about her appearance in MCU Phases 5 and 6, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Before Olsen, another major MCU actor revealed that he was getting fed up with his character in the films. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor’s journey began with the original six Avengers, and theThorfilms, like the character, had their highs and lows.

Chris Hemsworth “Got Sick” Of HisThorRole
In a recent interview with GQ,Chris Hemsworthshared his honest feelings about his role as Thor in MCU. TheExtractionactor accepted the poor reactions to his latest film,Thor: Love and Thunder, and admitted that the film became too silly at some point. TheSpiderheadactor shared that it was hard to gain a real perspective on the bad aspects of the movie since he was too close to the project.
Directed byTaika Waititi,Thor: Love and Thundersaw the return ofNatalie Portman’s Jane Foster. What could have been an interesting storyline was ruined by shabby humor and poor VFX work. Although the film performed well at the box office, it was one of the lowest-rated MCU films. Hemsworth revealed that he kept experimenting with his role over the years because he got sick of the character rather quickly. TheStar Trekactor toldGQ:
“I love the experience. I love the fact that I’ve been able to do something fairly different throughout the process. Thor 1 and 2 were their own thing, Thor 3 and 4 were a very different feel… and then even Avengers, the Lebowski Thor, the Infinity War Thor, due to different directors and I think mostly my own need to do something different. You know, I got sick of the character pretty quick every couple of years.”
After Thor’s latest lackluster outing, Hemsworth and Waititi are reconsidering their plans for a potentialThor 5. At present,Extraction 3might be a more viable project for Hemsworth thanThor 5, considering the successful run of previousExtractionmovies on Netflix. It is also unclear whether theRushactor will appear inAvengers 5orAvengers 6.

Not Only Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen Also Wants To Move On From MCU
Elizabeth Olsenhas proven to be an exceptional actress with her independent movie roles, way before she entered MCU. Ever since she took on the big franchise role, her name has become synonymous with the character. Olsen wants to deliver more memorable characters beyond her Marvel role and pursue them in her prime years. TheSorry for Your Lossactress shared her concerns about the MCU role in an interview withThe Times:
“I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need more, other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”
During an appearance on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast with Josh Horowitz, the host asked Elizabeth Olsen one piece of advice she would give to young actors pursuing Marvel roles. Olsen responded,“just give them one”, meaning not to sign multiple movie contracts. This also highlights the fact that theWind Riveractress is clearly unhappy with the Scarlet Witch role.
Marvel’s way forward looks very concerning considering that their top actors are not happy with their roles. Chris Hemsworth, in hisGQinterview, suggested that Marvel should return to making“more personal and grounded”movies rather than continually scaling up. Perhaps Marvel should heed Hemsworth’s advice.
