He played the DC villain Lex Luthor in the 2016 film and claimed that he loved portraying the character.

While his appearance and performance in the film became a topic of discussion among fans, it was not for the best possible reasons. Speaking at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival,Jesse Eisenbergreflected on the criticism he received for the 2016Ben AffleckandHenry CavillstarrerBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.Starring as the DC villain Lex Luthor, the actor was highly criticized for his performance in the movie, with some claiming that his presence might“ruin [the] movie for [them].”
He shared that the screenwriter of the film Chris Terrio is a very serious and very emotional person and he put a lot of thought into his character. TheZombielandstar claimed that he“thought a lot about [his] character too.”He shared that he researched a lot about his character with his acting coach and explored his backstory.

And despite all the efforts he put in, the actor was disheartened knowing that people hated him as Lex Luthor, and claimed that he“felt very personal about it.”When asked about a possible return to the DCU, the actor stated that he would be shocked if he appeared in another DC film.

Jesse Eisenberg Doesn’t Expect a Future DC Appearance
During an interview with Deadline, Jesse Eisenberg was asked if he would be returning to the DC films or is interested in joining Marvel’s superhero franchise. While he doesn’t rule out the possibility of returning to DC film, he does not expect that he would receive such an offer.
“I’d be shocked if I wound up in a DC movie, but it would be a pleasant shock,”he said. He further shared that he is not a comic book fan, but he tried to portray the character a“great writer wrote,”and he loved doing it. Eisenberg claimed that although he is not a big fan of the genre, he would still do a superhero movie as he wants to explore all the possible genres as an actor.
