Before finding the role of the daughter of Elrond,Liv Tylerportrayed the daughter of Bruce Willis in the 1998 movieArmageddon.In the film, Tyler and Ben Affleck’s on-screen characters are two lovers, with Affleck going to space to destroy a comet hurtling towards Earth.

The couple had quite an intimate scene when Affleck and Tyler were rolling around in the grass while kissing and hugging. In an interview withCinema, Tyler revealed that she doesn’t mind a little naughtiness in her films. While talking about her role in the 2001 filmOne Night at McCool’s,Tyler stated that she didn’t mind that all these men were after her in the movie.

And yet, despite these statements, the actress was awkward with Ben Affleck while shooting an intimate scene inArmageddonback in 1998. Stating that it felt like making out with a brother, Tyler revealed that Affleck indeed treated her like a little sister during the scene!

Although they were on-screen lovers in the film, Liv Tyler already knew Ben Affleck before they started working together on the sets ofArmageddon.In the same interview, the actress defended the intimate scene by stating that it was very awkward since Affleck felt like he was making out with his little sister!
”We didn’t kiss that much! Everybody keeps asking me about these love scenes and I’m like, ‘What hot scenes.’ Okay, we did kiss, hug, and eat animal crackers. ‘It was really a nice treat to have Ben play that part because I did know him before this movie. He did treat me like a little sister. He was like, ‘Cover yourself up, girl.’ It was really fun.”
Armageddonreceived a rating of 6.7/10 on IMDB and 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Tyler and Ben Affleck’s friendship remained. The 1998 movie is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
