How to Send Articles to Kindle From Android
Whether it’s afree ebookor a PDF document, you can easily email files to @Kindle.com. As long as the files are not ePub and below 16 MB. However, it takes a few extra steps if you want to send web articles to your Kindle.
On the desktop, I used,Tinderizer, to send articles to my Kindle. And it’s quite simple. Say, you find an interesting article, that you would like to read later, you can click a Tinderizer bookmarklet button to send it to your Kindle.
Unfortunately, there is no Tinderizer app for Android, neither was I able to find such an option in theKindle officialAndroid app. Yes, you can download the articles, convert them into PDF and then sent to the to @Kindle.com email as an attachment, but that’s just too much work. Fortunately, there are few Android apps, that automate all these tasks, and send those lengthy articles to your Kindle, formatted and optimized.
Before you can send any documents
You need to set up (and preferable change) your Kindle email address. To do so on your Android, go toManage Your Content and Devices(or click on this link to open the page directly on the Amazon app). Tap on the Device tab, and you will find your ‘Send to Kindle’ email address.
I recommend you change this email address to something memorable like I changed mine to ‘techwiser@kindle.com’. To do so, click Edit next to your device, enter a new email address, and then click Save to save your changes.
Make a note of email address, we’ll need this later on.
Now, let’s check out some apps to send Articles to Kindle
1. Send to Kindle
Download the ‘Send to Kindle‘ from the Google Play Store and open it
Tap on the hamburger menu on the top-left and under Kindle email, add the email address that you noted earlier and tap on ‘Save Data’.
Now, open the web browser, find some article you’d like to send on the Kindle, tap the share icon in the app.
From the list, select the Send to Kindle icon.
This will launch the ‘Send to Kindle’ app again, but this time it’ll open with the topic you just shared. If you’re able to send one or multiple articles, make sure all the articles you want to send, are check-marked and then tap on the yellow plane like share icon on the left side of each article.
Now, here is the bummer. Instead of sharing directly to kindle, this app will launch the email app and you have to again press the sent button. Just ensure, you are sending the email from the same email account, you have used on your register Kindle device.
2. Push to Kindle By FiveFilters
Push to Kindleis a better version of the previous one. Unlike the previous app, there is no need to launch the email app, as the app uses its own email server. Though, this convenience comes with a price of $3.
Once you setup everything, this works in three simple steps. Find the article you want to send to Kindle, tap the share button, select ‘Push to Kindle’ from the list of available options. And that’s it. Wait for a few seconds, and the article will magically appear in the Kindle’s My library.
To get started, simply open the app and paste your kindle email address.
Next, you will see another email address under ‘Send from’ option like ‘kindle@fivefilters.org’. Before you may send any documents using this app, you’ll have to add ‘kindle@fivefilters.org’ as your personal email address in your Amazon’s setting. This makes sure, not everyone who has your kindle email address can spam your kindle feed.
To approve the sender’s e-mail address
VisitManage Your Content and Devices page(or click on this link to open the page directly on the Amazon app)
Go to “Personal Document Settings” under “Manage Your Content and Devices”.
Under “Approved Personal Document E-mail List” click on “Add a new approved e-mail address”.
Enter the e-mail address to approve and select “Add Address”.
And that’s it. Now go back to the app, and double-check you have added the correct email address. Once confirmed, tap on done. Now, you can send most articles on the webstraight to your Kindle. Simply open the article on any web browser, tap on three vertical dots to bring up the share menu, select ‘Push to Kindle’ from the list. The app will take care of everything from here. The article will magically appear in the Kindle after a few seconds.
Overall, it works for most articles we tested but not all. Thankfully, the developer lets youtest the servicebefore you spend any money.
Deleting the Kindle articles
You can either delete the articles one by one from your Kindle or if they are to many, you can do it from your computer or Android as well. Simply go toManage Your Kindlepage from this link. You will find all the articles that you send to your @kindle.com email address here. Use the Actions button for a book if you want to delete it from your library.
Closing Words
These were two ways to send articles from your Android smartphone to your Kindle. The first app needs some extra work, as you to manually open the email app and press the sent button, each time you want to push articles. However, if you are frequent users, you can skip your morning coffee and buy ‘Push to the kindle’ app. It uses its own email server thus making the process automatic.
