Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise starrer and Directed by Christopher McQuarrie,Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Onecollected $560M globally. It could have been more. However, the timing of the release was something that hampered the collection. The film was released at the same time as this year’s blockbusterBarbieandOppenheimer.

AlthoughOppenheimeroutperformed McQuarrie’s most recent movie in terms of box office collection, the director is unfazed about it. Instead, he praised fellow directors, Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan, expressing his joy for their movies and what they represent.

Director Christopher McQuarrie’s Comments onOppenheimerSurpassingMission: Impossible7
Christopher McQuarrie, who directedMission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, feels that the “Barbenheimer” craze has done wonders for the movie industry despite the fact that the two films have outperformed his Tom Cruise-led action feature at the box office.
Speaking on theEmpire Spoiler Specialspodcast, Christopher McQuarrie said: “I couldn’t be more delighted. We meant what we said when we went out and bought those tickets.”

“I meant what I said when I went on Twitter – my last ever post on Twitter – and said, “Go pink or go home.”
“Chris Nolan… you want to talk about between a rock and a hard place? You want to talk about a guy whose movie was a three-plus hour R-rated drama with nudity that leaves you feeling quote-unquote ‘devastated’. That’s a tough sell. That’s one helluva marketing strategy. And he won. He called it like Babe Ruth and he won. God bless him. Congratulations. That’s fantastic.”

“And it’s a triumph for original movies. It’s a triumph for films that are not sequels,” McQuarrie added.

WhyMission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part OneBox Office Fell Short of Expectations?
Due to strong competition and high expectations,Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Onestruggled to meet expectations at the box office. Anticipation for the latestTom Cruiseblockbuster action film was very high following the phenomenal success ofTop Gun: Maverick.
Dead Reckoning Part One‘s release date is probably one of the most obvious reasons for its poor box office performance. The newMission: Impossiblewas overshadowed almost immediately after debuting because it debuted just one week before bothBarbieandOppenheimer.
WhileDead Reckoning Part Onemaintains the tradition of creating exceptional stunts and boasts some of the best practical effects and action scenes in the franchise, it was not quite as successful as its previous films.
The cost of makingMission: Impossible 7was one of the main reasons why its box office performance faltered. The way thatMission: Impossible 7is seen would alter significantly if its budget stayed significantly lower and hovered around $200M.
