Back in 2017, a cultural conflict broke out between Hollywood stars and Donald Trump after Trump branded many movie stars as Hollywood elites living in a bubble. One of the many names he targeted was Oscar-winner George Clooney, who didn’t take kindly to the former President’s statements and went on to set the record straight.

Reflecting on Trump’s comments, which insinuated that because of celebrities’ luxurious lifestyle, they couldn’t empathize with the working-class Americans, Clooney called out Trump on his hypocrisy.

George Clooney Called Out Donald Trump on His Hypocrisy

In a resurfaced interview from 2017 with theDaily Beast,George Clooneywent on a full rant calling out Donald Trump on his hypocrisy for branding Hollywood Stars as Elites. Clooney, who had a hard time getting his first major break in showbiz, explained most actors in Hollywood come from the Midwest to have a career, so the idea of“coastal elites living in a bubble is ridiculous”.

Clooney, who sold insurance door-to-door back in Kentucky, called Trump a hypocrite, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, as theERStar explained the challenges one faces in showbiz. He was quoted saying,

George Clooney

“He lives in a gold tower and has 12 people in his company. He doesn’t run a corporation of hundreds of thousands of people he employs and takes care of. He ran a company of 12 people! When you direct a film you have seven different unions all wanting different things, you have to find consensus with all of them, and you have to get them moving in the same direction. He’s never had to do any of that kind of stuff. I just look at it and I laugh when I see him say ‘Hollywood elite.’ Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! F–k you!”

The conflict garnered steam afterMeryl Streepvoiced concerns about Trump’s capabilities during her Golden Globe acceptance speech, and many shared the same viewpoint as Clooney.
