Black Myth Wukong Gamescom 2023 Trailer Shows Off Exciting Gameplay

The trailer has a foreboding tone, but already it’s safe to say thatBlack Myth Wukongwill probably feature an excellent soundtrack. The gameplay is fast, and the bosses look huge and challenging. It seems like you’ll have a variety of combat options, so dealing with those bosses may be a little less tedious than other games in the genre.

The Gamescom 2023 trailer continues to show just how impressive the game’s visuals are. The particle effects are pretty reminiscent ofGhost of Tsushima, while the gameplay looks like a combination of games likeSekiro: Shadows Die TwiceandWo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

What caught the eyes of many in the trailer was the final sequence, where your protagonist deflects all these projectiles thrown by an opposing boss. Not only did it look awesome, but it also seemed like it could be well integrated into the gameplay. A problem with Soulslike games is that projectiles are usually really annoying to deal with, but this may remedy the problem.

Boss Designs Look Awesome

The bosses look like their designs are ripped straight out of a folktale. So many Soulslike games have dry fantasy settings, butBlack Myth Wukongis seemingly shaking things up with its story, setting, and characters. It looks like it’ll be really immersive, and even though it may be challenging, the quest to find more lore may be just what carries you through the game. The character you control is called Sun Wukong, who is a monkey, hailed as “the Destined One”.

It looks like you’ll really be able to live out a fantastical folktale, especially when the game looks like it’ll have tons of combat options, tailored for every approach. The final boss in the trailer was the standout. It looks like a huge bird-like creature in a gorgeous landscape, with you in the middle fighting for your life. It looks like it may quench the thirst for more Souls games, especially after amazing games likeElden Ring.Black Myth Wukongis set to release in the Summer of 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
