Jensen Ackles is most popularly known for his role as the monster hunter, Dean Winchester, in CW’sSupernatural.The actor has also voiced DC’s Batman for quite a few animated flicks. However, fans have been vouching for Jensen Ackles to play a live-action Caped Crusader since time immemorial and he, too, has previously shown interest in the gig.

James GunnandPeter Safran’s DCU will introduce a new Batman who will replace BenAffleck’s current Bruce Wayne. Not only will this new Batman replace Affleck’s but it will also co-exist withRobert Pattinson’s Batman. Therefore, it goes without saying that fans are quite excited to find out who will take over the role inThe Brave and the Bold.

As mentioned above,Jensen Ackleshas been a fan favorite for quite a while now. On top of that, he himself has been vouching for the same. Unfortunately, the fans will have to wait a long time before Gunn finally reveals the new casting.

OnInstagram, Gunn announced the casting of Superman and Lois Lane forSuperman: Legacy.The iconic characters will be brought to life byDavid CorenswetandRachel Brosnahan. While the news was met with mixed emotions, some fans had something else to worry about – Batman.

In the comment section, a user asked Gunn,“How close are we to a casting for Batman?”To this, the filmmaker replied,“Miles and miles away.”Well, it looks like fans will just have to wait this one out. However, since Corenswet’s casting has been met with overall positive feedback, we could expect the same for Batman, right?

Jensen Ackles Opens Up about the Possibility

Ackles has previously spoken up about his willingness to play Batman and despite disappointments, he still is holding onto hope. The man even dressed up as the Caped Crusader for Halloween! During a convention in Italy,The Boysactor was asked to address the rumors about his casting as DCU’s Batman. He stated,

“I don’t know. Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I want to do it? Yes.”

He then joked about actorPedro Pascalbeing a more likely choice for the role as he has been quite the talk of the town. Ackles also clarified that with the ongoing writers’ strike, it’s difficult to answer any kind of questions.

“Look, right now nobody’s talking about anything. There’s a strike going on in the entertainment industry and until that gets solved, nobody is having conversations about anything.”

Well, Ackles seems to be a game for the idea. Given his experience with the superhero genre, there is a strong possibility that the actor would be a great choice for the role. All eyes are on Gunn now!

Superman: Legacywill be released in theatres on July 21, 2025.
