After winning his second Oscar, for the movieOnce Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Tarantino announced that his upcoming movie,The Movie Criticwould be his final movie. He has long maintained he had a finite number of movies in him, saying he wanted to direct 10 films or retire by the time he turned 60.

Quentin Tarantino‘s tenth and final movie,The Movie Criticis soon to go into pre-pre-production. The movie is placed in 1977 California and follows a man who writes for a p*rn magazine called The Popstar Pages. He is quite cynical and only well known if you read the magazine.
Quentin Tarantino talked aboutThe Movie Criticduring an interview,

“It’s based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a p*rno rag.He wrote like he was 55 but he was only in his early to mid-30s. He died in his late thirties. It wasn’t clear for a while but now I’ve done some more research and I think it was it was complications due to alcoholism.”
Tarantino went on to say this character was based on someone real but will remain unknown. He mentioned that this person left quite an impression on him. He would mainly write about mainstream movies but Tarantino described him to be quite good. He was rude and racist but funny according to Tarantino.

While no one has been cast in the movie just yet, Quentin Tarantino has talked about what he is looking for in his protagonist in this movie. The director mentioned that he wants to cast someone he hasn’t worked with yet. He went on to say that they have to be around the age of 35, however, it seems he already has someone in mind.
