Based on the real-life of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, his NBC sitcomYoung Rockportrayed his transition from childhood to a WWE career to Hollywood stardom. Premiering in February 2021, the series starts with Johnson playing himself in 2032 where he tells his life story to actor-turned-journalist Randall Park while running for the presidential election of the US.
Playing with chronology and hovering around different periods ofDwayne Johnson‘s life, the sitcom also tackled a few darker aspects of the actor’s upbringing. However, despite giving its audience a proper balance of laughter, hardship, and a glimpse of Johnson’s life, the show failed to sustain the viewership momentum over its three installments.
Premiering the first season in February 2021, the show concluded its third season in February 2023. However, with each new season, the sitcom lost viewership, thus affecting the review of the show. Initially starting with an impressive 3 million viewers each week, the show’s third season had an average of just around 1.4 million viewers and a 0.25 rating.
