During a press conference forMs. Marvel, participants got to know how a high school graduate ended up getting the role of Ms. Marvel.
As per the press conference moderator,Iman Vellanigot the casting call from her aunt on a messenger app. Even speaking onThe Tonight ShowStarring Jimmy Fallon, Vellani said ((viaMashable):

“My aunt forwarded me a WhatsApp of the casting call. I sent in a very academic resumé and the only head shot I had. I sent in my self-tape at 3am and then the next day I get a call, ‘Do you have a lawyer? We want to fly you to LA’ and I was like, ‘I have a math test but we’ll figure this out’.”
After this, she soon found herself in LA with her dad, having the best trip ever. Vellani was starstruck by Sarah Finn and Louis D’Esposito and wanted to make the most of the opportunity because she didn’t know if it would happen again. But initially, the actress thought getting a Marvel casting call was a weird way.

Iman Vellani Had Doubts with the Marvel Casting Call
At first, Vellani had doubts about the casting call, but it was legit. She realized how serious it was when she got more details after submitting her documents. Anyway, later, she stuck with the rest of the audition process, though.
Iman Vellani shared (viaThe Hollywood Reporter) that she“knew exactly which comic books they pulled them from,”and she was like,“Okay, this is real. I can’t do it.”She was scared of failing and made excuses. But the 21-year-old sent her self-tape at 3:00 a.m. Because she thought her 10-year-old younger self would be disappointed if she didn’t give it a try.

It was indeed hard during the pandemic. It caused delays for many projects, includingMs. Marvel.This put a lot of things on hold, and studios had to rethink their plans. But in the end, it all worked out for the series and Vellani. She“got cast on the last day of high school.”
