Tom Hardy’s Bane inThe Dark Knight Rises(2012) was one of the most noteworthy characters from his collaboration with director Christopher Nolan. Also celebrated for portraying the anti-hero Marvel villain Eddie Brock aka Venom, Hardy gave his heart and soul to portray the notorious character. But again, it was Anne Hathaway who took away most perks despite her 19-minute screen time in the $1.081 billion movie.
Tom Hardy Took Home 3X Less Than Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman
Tom Hardy‘s Bane may have moved mountains to fight the caped crusader in the 2012 blockbuster,Dark Knight Rises, which crossed the $1 billion mark globally, but it was CatwomanAnne Hathaway, whose one glance was worth $7.5 million. Hardy, on the other hand, only earned $2.5 million, despite his 22-minute screen time againstThe Princess Diariesstar’s 19-minute role.

While female actors continue to agitate, holding thousands of gender pay-gap reports, Anne Hathaway serves as the perfect example of how strong female characters can overshadow actors like Tom Hardy. But again, it was Christian Bale who made a whopping $15 million for donning the Batman suit.
Interstingly, Anne Hathway took away the biggest cheque for the least screen time when compared to other actresses like Zoe Kravitz, Oscar-winning Halle Berry, and Michelle Pfeiffer. For instance, theMonster’s Ballactress earned $14 million forCatwoman(2003), but unlike Hathaway, performed the entire time. Zoe Kravitz, on the other hand, received a cheque of $6M for her role as Catwoman.
It Took A Lot Of Pizza To Become An Iconic Villian
Tom Hardy, undoubtedly, worked hard to resemble the comic-drawn villain, Bane. While being smaller in size than the DC supervillain, Hardy admitted that he hit the gym three times a day. he also expressed that he “ate lots of pizza” whilst exercising, and gained 30 pounds of mass. Besides this, matrix and ladder routines helped him transform his upper half.

But again, it wasn’t just about looking like Bane. In a previous interview, the actor revealed that he had to step into the supervillain’s massive shoes and mold into Bane’s character. The actor also worked hard on the voice part, delivering bada** dialogues like,“You think darkness is you all, but you merely adopted it,”and“I am Gotham’s Reckoning”.
What people don’t know is the after-effects of being Bane. TheWarrioractor suffered from intense joint pain as he gained muscles over a short period. Again, it was also unhealthy for his heart. Coming back to Hathaway, she may have been the ultimate cherry on the top, but the actress did face a lot of criticism from the comic-book fanboys, perhaps, to a misogynistic degree.
