Much-awaitedJohn Wick: Chapter 4was released this week and is thriving at the box office and among movie critics. Fans of the franchise have deemed it as one of the best John Wick films but also one of the best action films in years. Although fans loved the film, its ending has left them with some unanswered questions about the future of their favorite hitman.
The film ends with John Wick collapsing on the steps of Sacré-Cœur in Paris as he remembers his late wife in what appear to be his last moments. However, with the possibility of a fifth film in the franchise, fans are not sure what to expect from theJohn Wickmakers in the future. And the producer of the film Erica Lee addressed the same during her recent interview.

Producer Addresses the Ending ofJohn Wick: Chapter 4
The director ofJohn Wick: Chapter 4earlier shared that he andKeanu Reevesare done with the franchise for now. The statement led many to believe that Chapter 4 could be the last film following the hitman. Although the film’s ending does seem to represent something similar, fans are still hopeful that it’s not true.
And the producer of the film Erica Lee also feels the same. She shared her thoughts about John Wick: Chapter 4’s ending and reflected on what Keanu Reeves had to say about his character’s future. When asked if this is John Wick’s end, she said,
“I hope not. I have heard Keanu say that this is the death of John Wick the character, but also, what does that mean? Is that the alias of John Wick? Is that the assassin John Wick?”
Saying that she is hopeful for a fifth film in the franchise, Lee shared that there are still more series to tell. In August 2020, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced that the fifth film is in the works, which seemingly confirms thatChapter 4is not the end of John Wick’s story.

John Wick’s Future Appearances in the Franchise
It is possible that the makers and stars could take a break for a while before returning with a fifth film. And even though the nextJohn Wickfilm doesn’t happen for a while, fans would see Reeves alongside Ana de Armas in theJohn Wickspin-off,Ballerina.
The spin-off stars Armas as an assassin who goes after her family’s murderers. It would take place between the events of the third and fourthJohn Wickfilms.Ballerinais not the only spin-off the filmmakers have planned under the franchise.
Chad Stahelski also planned a prequel miniseries following a young Winston Scott in the 1970s,The Continental.Keanu Reeves is reportedly also expected to reprise his popular role in the prequel spin-off. It will explore the origin of The Continental along with some of the major characters in theJohn Wickfranchise.
For now, fans can get a glimpse of their favorite hitman in these spin-offs. However, the post-credits scene also seems to hint at the possible plot of the next film in the franchise. The post-credit scene features Koji’s daughter Akira and Caine, where Akira appears to take revenge for her father’s death. Caine killed Shimanzu Koji earlier in the film.John Wick: Chapter 5could follow a similar plot.
