In the MCU, Iron Man and Captain America played by Hollywood stars Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans respectively, are two characters who are intrinsically intertwined through their shared and opposing ideals throughout their narrative arcs. But a speculative theory floating around in the MCU is that both Evans and Downey Jr. could lock horns once more in the future with the introduction of the Illuminati. This secret society of Marvel superheroes comprising Tony Stark, Dr. Strange, Professor Charles Xavier, Black Bolt, Namor, and Mr. Fantastic, have been seen as a controversial group whose actions and opinions are not necessarily shared by other members of their fraternity. This then means that Robert Downey Jr. And Chris Evans could be back to take their characters a full circle or probably drive a further wedge into their already complicated relationship that was brought on by their differing views on the role of superheroes, with Tony Stark’s work at Illuminati contrasting with Steve Rogers’ value systems. The rumor mills started churning when pictures of Downey Jr. taking supercars for a spin around the White House became viral on social media.
Despite the demise ofIron Man in Avengers: Endgame, many fans earnestly speculated if theOppenheimerstar would return to reprise his role in the MCU. But other practical viewers were quick to point out that Downey Jr.’s presence was more likely a result of his involvement in his television showDream Carsin which the actor teams up with a group of experts to restore his collection of classic cars.
