Is your mid-range RTX 3060 / 3060 Ti struggling to keep up in Assassin’s Creed Shadows? Don’t worry, we gotcha.

The RTX 3060 was thetechnical successorto the GTX 1080 Ti. Meaning both cards were almost equal in performance and shared identical VRAM. The 1080ti has a much faster memory bandwidth, but Ampere supports mesh shading, wider DX12 features, and hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing.

The 3060 Ti, on the other hand, is a much faster card than the two. But it lacks VRAM—it’s like putting a V8 engine in a Mario Kart. Nevertheless, Nvidia got away with using 8GB in 2020, which seems to be a pattern even today. But that’s a different discussion. With current game optimization trends, the 3060 is an entry-level 1080p gaming card. The 3060 TI is a faster experience but visually unpleasing due to the lack of VRAM.

Anyway, the 3060 and the 3060 Ti should be enough to get away with 1080p gaming and provide a decent experience. After all, people can spend so much on the high end, provided they find any GPU available. Alright, let’s get into it, shall we?

Note: FSR 3.1 Decoupled with DLSS is used, thanks to AMD. Budget gamers rejoice—even the 1060 and 1050ti got a second wind with FSR. Why the Balanced preset? Well, Nvidia improved DLSS to the extent that it delivers near-identical visual fidelity. Credit where it is due. Kudos, Nvidia.

Why These Tweaks?

We chose theVery Highpreset and optimized it for the RTX 3060 and the RTX 3060 Ti. Our approach allows for a much higher base framerate, so when the FG kicks in, you will see the difference in fluidity. On the standardVery Highpreset, you may expect a lot of input lag, shimmering, artifacts, etc.

For the 3060 TI, if you have a larger 1080p screen, say 27”, our sharpness settings andDLSS balanced profilemight not suit your liking. We ensured both the 3060 and the TI users get to experiment with the new Transformer model (DLSS 4.0 preset K) with the Nvidia app and not get that much of a framerate discrepancy over the CNN model (DLSS 3.7+).You may even opt for theperformance upscaling profilefrom the transformer model over thebalancedprofile in the CNNto get a clearer and more stable image, along with a higher FPS.

Volumetric fog and Volumetric cloud are intentionally kept low due to the game’s dynamic weather approach; for example, your framerate will change depending on the game’s climate and weather. To tackle that, we kept a lower setting, so whenever an intensive weather effect kicks in, your framerate tanks, but you won’t be able to feel it. On higher settings, there are chances that your GPU will either lack the computing power or simply run out of VRAM (in the case of the 3060 Ti.)
