Last year, ex-couple, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard fought their highly publicized court battle. Depp sued H for defamation over an op-ed she published in the Washington Post back in 2018. In the op-ed, she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence but she never mentioned Depp.

The long court battle came to an end in June 2022 as the court ruled in favor of Depp and Heard was found guilty. She was then ordered to pay roughly $10 million in compensatory damages. Now, the trial has been picked up by BBC’sChannel 4and they are all set to make a three-part docuseries.

BBC will make a documentary covering Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s court battle

It has been recently revealed that BBC’sChannel 4will make a three-part docuseries coveringJohnny DeppandAmber Heard‘s defamation trial. The court battle caught everyone’s attention last year and now the docuseries will use the opportunity to give viewers the first “in-depth” look at the legal issues between the ex-couple. The name is yet to be decided, but some sources claim that it will be named “Depp V Heard” or something along those lines.

The documentary, which will be directed by Emma Cooper, will contain real footage from the courtroom. The release date is expected to be announced soon.

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard

Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife, Amber Heard over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post back in 2018. The op-ed was titled, “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.” Although she never mentioned Johnny Depp’s name, it clearly looked like she is implying that abused her when they were together.

In June 2022, the court declared that the op-ed was actually about Johnny Depp and ordered Amber Heard to pay roughly $10 million in compensatory damages. The defamation trial divided the internet as the fans of the two celebrities clashed on the internet quite often.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard got married in 2015

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp first met in 2009 on the sets of Bruce Robinson’s 2011 movie,The Rum Diary. Fast forward to January 2014, the two became close and it was revealed that the two got engaged. In February 2015, they finally got married on Depp’s private island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay, in the Bahamas.

However, their marriage was chaotic and shortlived as just 15 months later, it was announced that Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp citing irreconcilable differences. She also obtained a temporary restraining order against Depp, alleging that he had been physically abusive toward her throughout their relationship. Depp denied the allegations. Their long court battle revealed a lot of shocking information about their relationship.
