Ant-Man 3was not the start Marvel was looking to have for its Phase 5. The film didn’t cross 500 million worldwide and fell short of even crossing the collections ofAnt-Man 1and2. Fans of the MCU have criticized everything from the plot to the CGI and characterizations. But there’s one thing that has intrigued fans.

The ending of the movie shows Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne coming back to the real world after getting trapped momentarily in the Quantum Realm. The ending scene is a mirror of the opening scene and shows Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang walking through the streets and celebrating his daughter Cassie Lang’s birthday. But some fans think he hasn’t returned to the real world and Ant-Man and Janet have been trapped in a simulation or another reality.
ViralAnt-Man 3Theory About Scott Lang And Kang
As per New Rockstars, the popular theory about the ending ofAnt-Man 3is that Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne didn’t escape to the Earth they came from. Instead, they are on another Earth or another reality. There is visual and dialogue evidence to back this up as well. WhenPaul Rudd’stitular hero is walking through the streets in the ending, there’s a sharp contrast with the similarly styled opening scene.
Not only does Lang question if he has indeed defeated Kang, but he also says that“My life doesn’t make sense.”This combined with the fact that several people are seen in the background wearing purple also seems to lend credence to the theory that something is wrong. Also, in the post-credits scene, we see the Council of Kangs gathering and telling everyone that the Avengers now know about the Multiverse.

They then carry out their master plan to stop the heroes. So maybe this plan began with Rudd’s hero who gets trapped in a new timeline that’s controlled by the Kangs. Many fans have also pointed out that the cake that Scott Lang eats at the end tastes bad, suggesting that something isn’t right. But that’s not all. Others suggest that Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s superpowered heroes haven’t left the Quantum Realm at all.

After all, Cassie Lang brings them both out way too easily. As per the initial plot leak, originally, the film was supposed to end with Scott and Hope trapped in the Quantum Realm and Cassie desperately trying to bring them out. The screen was supposed to go black when Cassie looked at her computer screen and sees something that shocks her.
Maybe she sees evidence of her father and Hope trapped in an alternate reality. Since that ending was scrapped, we may never know what actually happened in the original ending. However,Ant-Man 3writer Jeff Loveness has given his views on these theories.

Ant-Man 3Writer Gives His Opinion On Popular Scott Lang Theory
In an interview with Comicbook.com,Ant-Man 3writer Jeff Loveness expressed his views on the above viral theories regarding the ending of the film. He said that he can’t fully confirm or deny them. But he said that Scott Lang could be the man who has put everyone in mortal peril. As per the writer:
“I think it’s very interesting. I can’t say much. It actually is not too far off from some possibilities, but I can’t say anything. For now, the only important thing to say is that the multiverse is limitless and Scott Lang was the man who saved the universe in [Avengers: Endgame] and now he may be the person who accidentally f-cked up the multiverse for everybody.”

The writer stating that the theories aren’t“too far off from some possibilities”could mean that some parts of the theory are correct. Since Loveness is also writingAvengers: The Kang Dynasty, it will be interesting to see if we get more clarity on this.
Ant-Man 3is still in theaters.
