It seems that what Zack Snyder wanted for his DCEU will become a reality in James Gunn’s DCU. Adam Driver, the actor known for portraying the iconic role of Kylo Ren in theStar Warsfranchise, is alleged to have joined the DCU under James Gunn’s reign.
The actor had been offered the role once back in 2016 when Zack Snyder was directingBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicebut he refused the role. Now, with a clear schedule for the actor, it seems that Adam Driver might, after all, join the DCU, as the new Lex Luthor.

Zack Snyder did face several hardships along the way when he was trying to make order out of the chaotic DCEU. Having directedMan of Steel,the director went on to bring Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman face to face back in 2016. Snyder had originally offered the role of Lex Luthor to Adam Driver forBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Driver refused the role since he wanted to portray Kylo Ren in the iconicStar Warsfranchise, more specifically,Star Wars: The Force Awakens.The role later went to Jesse Eisenberg who portrayed Lex Luthor beautifully (some might disagree). Notable insider Jeff Sneider recently talked about Adam Driver’s casting and speculated that the actor is once again, being considered for the role of Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s DCU.
Sharing the alleged news on Twitter, fans had quite the reaction with some praising the actor while others dismissing the rumors.

Suffice it to say,Adam Driverwould indeed make a good Lex Luthor but from what the tweets and the reports say, he just isn’t that interested in portraying a comic book character. As per the reports, the65actor was allegedly involved in the casting of Reed Richards in the upcomingFantastic Fourreboot but he denied the role.

Before the actor refused the role, Adam Driver was heavily considered for portraying Reed Richards in the upcomingFantastic Fourreboot in the MCU. Jeff Sneider stated that an insider on the sets of the upcoming movie revealed that Driver wasn’t interested at all in the casting and that he couldn’t connect with the character.
“This contradicts some stuff some we’ve put out there in the past, but…this comes from someone apparently working on the Fantastic Four movie. They said that Adam Driver was never really engaged in this. They sent Adam Driver the script a while back and he said that he couldn’t connect with the character on the page, and he passed very early on.”
Adam Driver is currently attached to 3 upcoming projects and none of them are connected to any comic book character. It would seem pretty cool to see a bald Adam Driver as Lex Luthor but only time will tell how James Gunn’s DCU fares in the upcoming future.
