Lucasfilm Set to Expand MandoVerse With Another Spinoff

Since the late ’70s, a universe comprised of Skywalkers, Jedi, rogues, rebels, and droids have swept us up in its enigmatic, larger-than-life storytelling where each character presents the possibility of branching out into multiple experiences and manifold adventures, in and of itself. This universe, known to us all asStar Wars, gave rise to another self-contained elemental space within itself that began with 2019’s first Lucasfilm x Disney+ series,The Mandalorian, starring Pedro Pascal.

Now popularly called the MandoVerse for its vast scope and ever-increasing storyline, the Mandalorian paved the path for such esteemable characters as Boba Fett and Ahsoka, who each now have their own series (or are in development). TheSkeleton Crewis also set to come out in 2023 alongsideAhsokaand will fall under the banner of MandoVerse, as was theRangers of the New Republicsupposed to. Following Gina Carano’s controversial tenure and eventual firing, the latter faced the axe while other series went on to establish deep roots within their host universe.

With Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze still vying for a solo project within MandoVerse, it now looks like something far more imminent has caught the eyes of the genius duo, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who has now taken another step forward in their commitments to the Lucasfilm universe.

Is a New Spinoff Series,Rebels, Set to See the Light of Day?

Back at Anaheim 2022, Jon Favreau announced a future cross-over event is on the slate and will be a culmination of the events that have been building up to this point in the MandoVerse. The onscreen ensemble project which will serve as a climactic episode in the chronology of events will very much be a celebration of the characters that the fandom has witnessed under the Disney+ banner, with a few notable exceptions (like Obi-Wan Kenobi), of course.

The details of what the project will be centered around are yet to be made public, although the chronology places the crossover after theReturn of the Jedi. A few easter eggs drawn from the codenames have allowed fans to decode that the speculated live-action series could beRebelsdue to Ghost VCX 100 being the main ship that can primarily be seen in the animated series.

The mandoverse keeps getting bigger and bigger. I wonder when and in what form we can expect to see the “climactic event” that should unite the storylines

Moreover, the upcomingAhsokawill also serve as an extension of the events of the animated project,Star Wars: Rebels, and it could very well be possible that the Rosario Dawson-helmed series might finally hint toward the show aiming for a live-action debut at Disney+ after a successful 4 season run that ended in 2018, a year before MandoVerse launched itself at the streaming platform.
