Japanese manga artist Rumiko Takahashi is one of the most prominent artists. Takahashi is one of the most well-known and wealthy manga artists in Japan, having had several commercially successful works published throughout her career. In 1978,Urusei Yatsuramarked the start of her career which then went on quite successfully over time.

She has won two Shogakukan Manga Awards and two Seiun Awards. In 2019, she was also granted the Grand Prix de la ville d’Angoulême, making history as the second female winner and the second Japanese recipient.
